Intensive care clinicians are often exposed to patients with severe sepsis or septic shock. They know, by virtue of their experience, the need for action and the advantage that is created when they use the ‘golden hour of sepsis’. We know that septic patients can show fast deterioration and ultimately die due to progressive organ failure.
